TPSC Competitive Team Coaches and Rec Pro Trainers 2017


Mattias Kodzoman is the Director of Development for the Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club.  He has extensive experience as a player and coach.  Mattias is from Vasteras, Sweden.   He has a NSCAA Premier Diploma and has coached competitive youth teams for the past 10+ years in Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club, Marin FC, Mill Valley Soccer Club, Central Marin Youth Soccer Club, San Francisco Youth Soccer and Redwood High School. He is a two time All American having played soccer for Tri-State University and University of San Francisco and as a professional player in Sweden for Basteras SK.  He has a BS in Marketing and Accounting from the University of San Francisco.  Mattias has also taken over 400 players and parents to Europe to play soccer over the past 8 years.  In addition to being our club’s Director of Development and Coaching, Mattias will also coach the 2003 girls and 2005 boys teams in 2017.




Javier Alvarado has over 23 years’ experience coaching youth soccer players. He has coached youth teams for TPSC, Novato, Mill Valley, Marin FC and high school teams for Tam High and Sacred Heart Cathedral. As a player, Javier played for the semi-pro teams SF Diablos and SR Breakers. He was the team captain at City College of San Francisco and also played at San Francisco State. Javier has his USSF E/D license, attended numerous coaching symposiums, plus has his AA in Kinesiology.  Javi will coach the 2005 girls and a 2007 boys teams in 2017.




Chris Stibich grew up in Marin and played as a youth in Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club, Mill Valley Soccer Club, Marin FC and at Redwood High. He went on to play collegiate soccer for Whitworth University as part of one of the most successful classes winning three straight Northwest Conference titles and competing in three NCAA Division III tournaments. Post college, Chris played professionally for the Bay Area Ambassadors and AS Laranja, Kyoto Japan. Chris’ 10+ years of coaching includes soccer camps, clinics and teams for SoccerInsight, Spokane Shadow, Kyoto Academy, TPSC, MVSC and Marin Catholic High School. He has a NSCAA National Diploma coaching license, BA in Graphic Design and is currently working on his MFA in Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University.  Chris will coach the 2009 boys teams and a 2006 boys team in 2017



Andrew Shuter grew up in England where he played for Northampton Town as a youth. Moving to the States at the age of 11, he then played for Novato Youth Soccer until he was 18. Andrew played at College of Marin for a season before deciding to become a coach.  He has coached for North Marin United, Novato High School, and is the Head Coach at Marin Catholic High School for the Boy’s Varsity team. He had his USSF E and his NSCAA National Diploma.  Andrew will coach the 2004 boys and a 2006 boys teams in 2017.




Alexa Garratt grew up playing competitive soccer for Mill Valley and Marin FC; she also played for Tam High's Varsity team all four years and helped the team win league, playoff, and North Coast Section titles in 2008. She began working as an assistant coach for various soccer camps when she was 13. Since graduating from UC Davis she has coached for the Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club and for several teams in San Francisco.  Alexa will coach the 2008 A & B teams in 2017.



Fernando Monroy grew up in San Francisco. He comes to TPSC with a wealth of soccer experience both as a coach and player. He currently holds a NSCAA National Diploma, USSF National "D" license and Coercer Youth Diploma. Fernando's expertise lies in developing technical, confident and creative players. He's been coaching youth soccer in Marin County since 2007. Fun Facts: Traveled to 5 continents, 21 countries and 100+ cities in the world, Climbed Mount Whitney twice, and was a Finalist in Fear Factor at Universal Studios. Fernando will coach a 2007 boys and 2008 boys teams in 2017.





Michelle Harrison grew up in the East Bay. She played competitive soccer for the Danville Mustangs and Pleasanton Rage as a youth player. Went on to play soccer at Idaho State University and St Mary's College in Moraga. Michelle coached in the Dixie Youth Soccer League last season and been working at St Mary's soccer camps in the past. She earned her Masters Degree in Education from the Dominican University and is currently working as a Kindergarten teacher at Dixie Elementary School.  Michelle will coach the 2006 girls and 2007 girls teams in 2017.




Liam Whelan has coached in the Bay Area and in Peru and Argentina over the past 11 years.  He has coached for the SF Vikings, Seals, Glens, Saint Ingnatius, Mill Valley, San Ramon and Soccer without Borders in Oakland.  He is currently the head coach for the Marin Catholic girls varsity team.  Liam has played at City College, Holy Names University, the SF Seals PDL team, SF Stompers NPSL team and in the SF and Argentina Leagues.  He has a NSCAA Advanced National and USSF F licenses.  Liam will coach the 2010 boys team in 2017.



Jennifer Gastrich returns for her 12th year coaching recreational girls soccer for TPSC.  Her soccer coaching experience also included coaching at The Spence School, Major League Soccer Camps and Pickerington Youth Soccer Association.  She played varsity soccer For Muskingum College for 4 years being named captain her senior year.  She holds a NSCAA state diploma.  Her full time job also involves working with youth at Steve & Kate’s Camps.  Jennifer will be coaching TBD in 2017.
Julio Leon brings a wealth of experience coaching youth soccer in the bay area for 20 years.  He is a credentialed teacher in Spanish, Dance and Mathematics.  He studied at San Francisco State, American Dance Center, Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Academy of Classical Ballet and Pricilla Welton.  He carries a CYSA National Coaching License.  Julio will be coaching TBD in 2017



Annacy Wilson grew up locally in Mill Valley and played soccer for Marin FC and Tamalpais High School. She played two years of D1 soccer at University of California, Davis. While in college, Annacy coached a girls middle school team in Sacramento. After college she went into teaching and coached and worked at Richmond High for 3 years. For the past two years Annacy has been teaching at Tam High as well as being the assistant coach for the girls varsity team. Annacy earned her masters degree in Special Education and is excited to continue to combine her excitement for young adults growth and sports. Fun fact, she played on one of the original teams that Mattias brought to Sweden and Denmark and has won both the Dana Cup and the Gothia Cup.  Annacy will coach the 2009 girls team in 2017.



Adam Dietz grew up playing youth soccer in Terra Linda winning both the top State Cup for club and an NCS championship for Terra Linda High. Adam was a 3x All-League goalkeeper before moving on to San Diego State University where he was a 2x scholar-athlete award recipient for the Aztecs. Adam is currently head coach of the Terra Linda High School Girls Varsity program after coaching at Branson in 2011 and 2012 and has been coaching competitive soccer in Marin since 2002, most recently spending the past 6 years with Central Marin Soccer Club.  Adam will be coaching a 2004 girls and a 2008 boys team in 2017.
